We got to go down to San Diego last Monday to see Mike. We had a blast visiting him, and had tons of fun at all the Padres games. On Monday night 20 of us went! It was crazy, but totally fun. Grandma, and grandpa Bourland even got to come to the game to see Mike. It was pretty surreal being at the baseball game knowing Mike is playing Major League Baseball...WOW. He has come a long way from little league! Who knows where Mike will end up next baseball season, but for now we are loving this! Here's some pictures from the week. Mike got to pitch on Wednesday night. He pitched 2 full innings and did really good. We couldn't have asked for better innings. They ended up losing the game, but we don't care because LA didn't get any earned runs against Mike, so we are happy. LA has Manny Ramierz playing for them now. It was pretty cool to see him, but cooler because Mike struck him out! Seriously crazy!
So before game on Wednesday this is what the big guys made Mike do because he's the rookie. He road a gas powered cooling with a trailer all the way around to the bullpen (halfway around the field). It was hilarious! They made him wear a kiddie helmet that barely fit his head, ok it probably didn't fit at all! When he was coming up to pitch, they showed him ride the cooler on TV. It was pretty awesome!
