Happy Birthday Cole

Today Cole turned 1. I'm afraid it wasn't the best day though. Poor Cole is so sick! He has a bad head cold so his nose is running all day long, and he coughs all the time. Poor kid! He had his 1 year check up scheduled for wed. but I switched it to Monday cuz he's feeling so miserable. On Monday we'll see if this cold has turned into anymore ear infections. The past has not been kind to poor Cole in the ear infection department, so I'm prepared to have them again (he always gets double ear infections).

Cole sure is a fun kid no matter how he's feeling. He is now pretty good at walking, and has moved on to climbing onto things. Scary but really cute to watch. He loves his sister, but can also hold his own playing with her. Cole smiles every time you bring the camera out and loves to talk and sing with us. (We think he is trying to sing?!) He is a flirt and loves attention! It amazes me how much more he is like Julia, yet how different they are. We love our little Colie (horrible nickname we know but Julia made it up!).

A few more pictures

Trying to figure out if he likes the cake or not?!?

Nope, not so much!

Definitely much better!

Who doesn't like getting feed cake and frosting...and more frosting!

Cole's 1st Birthday

Cole's doesn't turn 1 until the 28th of this month but we celebrated a little early because my mom left for Slovenia today. We had a lot of fun. It was totally low key, which I have learned is good for the 1st birthday. We just had family over and talked and relaxed. Yesterday morning it was totally raining (sprinkling) so I planned to have the party inside. At 3:30 when everyone was arriving the sun was shinning so we changed plans and enjoyed the sun! Here's some pictures of the birthday boy.

Brandon's cousin Sam's fiance painted this picture for Cole (the relation is easier than it sounds). Isn't it amazing! Monet took the picture over Thanksgiving and I can't believe how realistic the painting is. I knew Monet painted but what I didn't know, is what a good artist she is. I'm afraid I have no musical or artistic talent, so hopefully me kids will not take after me in those areas.

Going a little green?!?

There has been so much talk lately of good plastic and bad plastic. (ok, maybe not good, but you know what I mean) I have been thinking about it all but not actually doing anything. My views normally are 'well, everything is going to kill us someday.' Now I know that isn't necessarily a good view, but that's how I feel. That doesn't mean that I blow everything off though. I have been feeling a little guilty about Cole's bottles. They have seen better days...to say the least. I hate washing bottles by hand so I bought enough for like two days and they always go in the dishwasher and microwave. Now I bough the bottles used...(bottles get expensive) and that was when I had Julia, so the bottles have definitely been around. Today I had to go to Babies R Us for something else and I saw Cole's bottles made without BPA (i don't know what it is, but I know it's bad). I decided to get 3 new bottles, and so I'm throwing out the others. I feel good knowing that I don't have to worry about the bad stuff going into my baby's system. It's a slow process changing the way we think about things and about the way we live but I do think that it is important. So if anyone is curious I got the new Dr Brown bottles that are BPA free, they have the PP sticker on them, not the pc sticker. I love Dr Brown bottles, but that's another story!

My baby is growing up

Cole is walking! He has been taking steps here and there for about a week or so, and now I can truly say 'he is walking.' The farthest is about 5+ feet. He takes little tiny steps so who knows how many steps it is...it's so cute. He tends to bail at something or someone, but every once in a while you catch him just walking. I can't believe my baby is almost one and is walking. This year has totally flown by!!!!

Ugg, i can't seem to post any pictures lately. Maybe next time.

I'm back!

So I actually got back last night but was tired and decided not to blog, and I didn't take any pictures so that meant I actually have to write something and not just put pictures on here. The lazy me likes to put pictures on here and call it good!

My mom and I had a blast in San Antonio, but I'm afraid I don't know why anyone would ever want to live in Texas...sorry! The humidity is horrible and it actually wasn't that bad when we were there my brother said. I'm just spoiled living in a non-humid state.

So Mike is great. We had fun just talking and eating, and eating, and again eating! For those of you that don't know, my brother Mike is playing minor league baseball in the Padres organization. He is playing for the San Antonio Missions which is the Padres double A team. There triple A team is the Portland Beavers. He is a pitcher and just got moved from being a starter to a reliever. We were hoping to see him pitch, but he ended up pitching the day we left, but he did great so that's all that mattered. But we did see some eventful games. The first night was thirsty Thursday. That means $1 beer, you can make your own assumptions there. The second night we were surrounded by what looked like secret service guys, like seven of them all in full on suits. We were thinking, 'OK we are in Texas is one of the Bush relatives there?' It turns out there were two girls there that were the daughters of someone really important in Mexico. (presidents daughters, or something like that.) And the last night was the best because the drama actually had to do with the game. The game was tied most of the game then the other team got ahead, then we scored 3 or 4 to come back in the lead and the other coach got ticked to say the least. He didn't like a call and started yelling, got kicked out, and then he really started yelling, and helmet got thrown and we all got an exciting game.

It was a good weekend, but now I'm glad to be back with my kids, and Brandon. He is such a good dad to take care of the kids from Thursday morning to Sunday night. I never doubt that he can do it, but I do feel a little bad having him do everything for so many days, but I am extremely grateful for the little break! Thanks honey!!

I'm off

It's 4:30am and I've been up for an hour...ugggg. But the good news is soon I will be in sunny San Antonio. Mom and I are going to visit Mike and watch some baseball. Sunny might be an understatement though, because I think they are have record high temps right now...100 degrees! I might die! Think of my husband this weekend with the kids. He truely is amazing!!!
