Julia has been having some sleeping issues, but that is nothing new. At night we have to sit in her room until she falls asleep otherwise she would get out of her bed for hours until she fell asleep. Well, for naps I have always rocked her to sleep. I know that I really should not still have to rock my 2 1/2 year old to sleep but it is the quickest and easiest way to get her to sleep, which is a good thing when you have a baby crying downstairs. We tried to just leave her in her room and discipline her when she got out, but my daughter if given the choice will not take a nap. She will just find ways of keeping herself awake. Julia has never been the kid that eventually gets tired and will go to sleep. I do believe that she would be up all night if we did not make her lay down and go to sleep. So now the new problem. I can't rock her so sleep. Ugg...I knew it would eventually happen and now we have to deal with it. So after 30 minutes of trying to rock Julia yesterday I decided to lock her in her room. We put one of those door handle locks on the inside of her room. I thought, well I will at least make her stay in her room. After an hour of crying I hear..."mommy I pooped." Don't worry no big poop story. But she got our of her room?!? How did she do that? I went to look at her room, and here is what I saw.

I figured it was a fluke she busted the door lock off, and it probaly wouldn't happen again, so I put it back on. It was a fluke she busted it off, but now she figured out how to open the door with the lock still in place. UGG!!! So basically she won yesterday. After 2 hours of battling I let her not take a nap, but only because she would not physically take a nap. What can I do after 2 hours? And now here we are again today. She has only got out of her room once, but it has only been 45 minutes. The good thing is, we do laugh about it. I mean seriously, what 2 1/2 year old can break a door lock...only my child! I can barely figure those things out. When I saw her rocking chair in the middle of the room I just imagined her pushing as hard as she could to get it there, and I was holding back the laughter trying to discipline Julia. When I told Brandon what she did he also could not stop laughing. Only my wild child.
